Overview

The Australian Grand Prix was first held in 1928 at the Phillip Island Circuit in Victoria. Over the years, the race has been hosted at different venues across Australia, including Adelaide, Melbourne, and occasionally other cities.

Since 1996, the Australian Grand Prix has been held at the Melbourne Grand Prix Circuit, located in Albert Park, Melbourne. The track is a semi-permanent street circuit that winds its way around Albert Park Lake, offering a mix of fast straights and challenging corners with a picturesque backdrop for the high speed action.

The circuit features several iconic corners, including Turn 1 (known as "Senna Corner"), a tight right-left chicane that often sees intense action at the start of the race.

It is a relatively flat circuit with a blend of high-speed and low-speed corners, which tests the drivers' skills and the cars' performance.
