Depart Melbourne this morning on your tour of the Great Ocean Road passing by Bells Beach, where the world's surfing championships have been held. Travel along Victoria's southern coastline to Apollo Bay, a popular seaside resort destination. After lunch, continue on to the Twelve Apostles, the major natural landmark of the Great Ocean Road. Next, head to Loch Ard Gorge, where you'll stop to hear the history of this location known as the Shipwreck Coast. Listen to the story of the Loch Ard, a British ship that wrecked in 1878 with only two survivors, who managed to make their way to shore at this sheltered spot. Your last stop of the day will be the seaside village of Port Campbell. Admire its picturesque setting surrounded by Norfolk pine trees and cliffs, and explore the local shops and galleries. Return to Melbourne late in the afternoon.
Depart the hotel this morning and travel through to natural Wonderland of Mount Macedon, where you will visit one of Australia's leading stallion farms - Sun Stud, formerly known as Eliza Park. Sun Stud is a highly respected thoroughbred stud operation and features an 11-strong roster of stallions including the Bel Esprit, the sire of champion Black Caviar and Melbourne Cup winner Fiorente and the exciting newcomer Thronum. Continue on to the nearby the historical town of Woodend and enjoy lunch at Holgate Brewhouse, which is an independent craft brewery situated inside a 19th century country pub. On return to Melbourne, we will stop at Living Legends, which is home to some of Australia retired champion racehorses including legendary Melbourne Cup, Japan Cup, Caulfield Cup, Australia Cup and Cox Plate winners. Closely modelled on the Home of Rest for Horses in the United Kingdom, Living Legends provides an excellent environment for these champions to thrive, while allowing people of all ages rare, up close access to these Legends. Enjoy afternoon tea at the historical Woodland Homestead before returning to your hotel.
