For many years both local and regional jockeys have competed here, including some top international jockeys and trainers, with thoroughbred horses from the UK and North America featured - some owned by the world’s leading investors in thoroughbred racing.
Barbados' climate is ideal in March, with temperatures hovering in the mid-twenties and very little rain so it's ideal for a horse racing holiday.
The big race is run over a turf course at a distance of 1,800 metres (8.95 furlongs) and is open to horses aged three and over. The Historic Garrison Savannah is a fitting setting for such as event, having been the home of horse racing in Barbados since 1845, and is conveniently located close to the island's capital, Bridgetown.
Luxury is certainly guaranteed at Colony Club as the hotel has set itself apart as one of the best retreats in Barbados. Nestled on the sublime West Coast of Barbados, the classically-styled colonial hotel is both glamorous and laid back. You’ll be greeted by lush palm trees, white sandy beaches and sparkling blue waters. Lagoon pools and tropical gardens all add to Colony Club’s distinctive allure. Immersing yourself in the sights, sounds, smells and sensations of this special hideaway will be as irresistible as anything the island has to offer. This serenity is coupled with gorgeous healthy, home-cooked cuisine and outstanding facilities, all designed with maximum comfort in mind.
Relatively undiscovered and with only 4,900 inhabitants, Bequia remains unspoiled and retains its old-world charm with no large tourist resorts or shopping malls, earning it the often-used description of the ‘jewel’ in the Grenadines. This boutique hotel and villas has its own secluded beach area and is surrounded by beautiful tropical gardens. Bequia Beach Hotel provides a friendly and relaxing atmosphere and comprises 11 spacious suites, 11 classic pool and ocean view rooms, six villas and a penthouse suite. Each room is tastefully furnished in bespoke, colonial style with elegant, bright interiors and terraces with sun loungers, and most enjoy wonderful views over the pool and the Caribbean Sea. Though it is the most amenity-laden hotel on the island, Bequia Beach Hotel is still delightfully intimate; the rooms, suites and villas are widely distributed amongst beachfront and palm-lined walkways, meaning that every guest can delight in having their own space.
Enjoy a full day of hospitality at The Pavillion. You'll take in track views from your shared suite, and feast on a delicious 3-course luncheon and afternoon tea. A premium bar is included with the option to purchase Champagne locally.
