For the first time in F1 history, there are no driver changes from one season to the next. Therefore, this is the first time without any rookie drivers racing in the F1 season. Last year’s rookie driver, Logan Sargeant (Williams) was under a lot of pressure to perform, as many people felt that he didn’t deserve to be kept for 2024. However, he became the first American driver to score points in 30 years and has come back in 2024 to race once again.

This season is the final year for Lewis Hamilton at Mercedes before he makes the career move to Ferrari after his 11th season with the team. With this being Hamilton’s final season, we can anticipate some excitement on the tracks. We know that he won’t leave Mercedes without some drama, so we can expect some all-out F1 thrill from Lewis Hamilton as he battles for his eighth world title.

Looking ahead to next season, Alonso is likely to be in demand, despite being the oldest driver on the grid. Yet he is still in strong form in his career, as last season’s qualifying performances proved.

Daniel Ricciardo and Red Bull

After Daniel Ricciardo’s return to the F1 with Red Bull's junior team halfway through last year, there are many questions around whether or not he still has what it takes. But, if he does perform well this coming season, it’s likely he could be promoted mid-season to the main Red Bull team alongside Verstappen. This would see his place at the junior F1 team taken by Liam Lawson who replaced Ricciardo for a few races last year and performed strongly.

F1 2024 Cars

This season, there are no major changes to the F1 cars in 2024. Through the years, most teams have been converging on the Red Bull design ethos for the new era of regulations that were first introduced in 2022. However, Red Bull have gone a step further by mimicking the Mercedes zero sidepod concept which they failed to make work.

McLaren developed their car strongly throughout 2023, but can that progress continue into 2024? If they have a good grasp of what is needed to make a car quick in the new era, then they'll be speeding their way to the podium as Red Bull did in 2023.

Aston Martin showed their potential with strong performances at the start of last year that didn't carry through the rest of the season. Many wonder whether they truly understand why they were so quick last season. Plus, Aston Martin’s results were complemented by the poor form performances from Mercedes and Ferrari.

After Mercedes failed with their zero sidepod concept, they have gone with Red Bulls 2023 design approach, deciding on a detailed construction in aerodynamic terms, and contributing to why Red Bull are so fast.

Who Will Win F1 2024?

Looking ahead to 2024, it’s hard to see what team might win the podium position and claim victory. Last season, Red Bull and Verstappen won more races than any team in history, but can the team keep it up this year? Domination allowed them to stop developing the 2023 car early and switch focus to 2024, and the result is a much more aggressive design which is likely to help them stay out ahead of the pack.

But the battle for the podium position will still be interesting this year, and the fight for “Best of the Rest” is likely to be tight. Considering Mercedes' former technical director and their design approach, can they get closer to the front this year?

Red Bull's rival team, Ferrari, are the only team not mimicking the Red Bull car designs, but relying on their skill can be enough for them to gain ground on the track.

Taking a look back on the 2023 season, McLaren got the jump on both teams at the end in terms of pace, and may well turn out to be Red Bull's biggest challenger once again.
