On 2 November 2023, the Breeders' Cup was under starter’s orders at Santa Anita Park, California, putting a stopper in the race calendar. Emma, our dedicated travel expert and avid horse racing fan, attended the race and stayed for two days of the four-day race festival, and she’s excited to tell you all about it with exciting things for you to look forward to at the horse racing Breeders' Cup 2024.
"Every second of this trip was a highlight to say the least. This prestigious event was certainly incredible, but what I saw outside of the classic race made my trip unforgettable. From watching the sunrise at Clocker’s Corner, to exploring LAX and the Pasadena, the fun didn’t begin and end with the race. I had an exceptional time, and I am looking forward to organising your action-packed Breeders' Cup experience."
"During your Spectate trip, we recommend you stay at The US Grant. Here, you’ll be in the perfect place to wander into the Gaslamp Quarter for some shopping, to experience the lively nightlife and even watch a show at the Spreckels and Balboa theatres.
Not only are you in the heart of the historic quarter, but the hotel also offers a welcoming vintage charm having been opened in 1910. Boasting spacious rooms and suites, luxurious modern furnishings and décor and superb amenities from a fitness centre and serene spa, you’ll find everything you need to rejuvenate before and after the race."
"The Breeders' Cup 2023 was held at Santa Anita Park, which is one of my favourites, even after visiting over 52 racecourses across the world. I was very lucky to have numerous vantage points of the race during my trip, but I must say my two favourites were the hospitality viewpoint and Grandstand J. At Clocker’s Corner, the corner of the Grandstand, we had the perfect seat to enjoy coffee and breakfast at sunrise whilst the riders trained and exercised their horses. The view was nothing short of breathtaking as the warm rays of sun started to peak behind the San Gabriel Mountains, and the silhouettes of galloping Godolphin horses splayed across the field. It’s a view I won’t forget, and it set us up for a great day watching the famous jockeys racing, including the iconic betting favourites Aidan O’Brien, Tom Marquand, Oisin Murphy and Mick Appleby.
Grandstand J offered superb views of the final stretch, final bend and the finishing post, where the nail-biting action had us sitting on the edge of our seats. The experience was elevated with our luxury trackside hospitality, where we were greeted with Champagne on arrival and a delicious, fuelling lunch. Plus, the Paddock is just a stroll away, where we could soak in the views of the racecourse and the glittering field. Travelling to Los Angeles by Rolls Royce was an excellent start to a day of exploring. The Santa Anita Park is located just outside Los Angeles, and a short drive from beautiful Pasadena where we were treated to a great day at the shopping scene. This small city is just outside of downtown LA, comprising gourmet restaurants, shopping malls and Victorian buildings that were amazing to explore in the glorious sunshine."
“The morning tour of clocker’s corner was like nothing I’ve ever experienced, with unrivalled views of the San Gabriel Mountains and silhouettes of the track work riders as the sun started to rise. Seeing our race-loving clients enthuse about the sport with the trainers and jockeys was extraordinary and watching the action at the final stretch and finishing post were nothing short of exceptional. Plus, experiencing the track side hospitality with Champagne on arrival, breakfast and coffee topped it all.”
"In 2024, I'm delighted to be heading to Del Mar Racetrack in Southern California for next years’ Breeders' Cup. World champions will be competing for the prize, and although the setting and location may be different, the action, passion and horse racing excitement will be the same as it’s always been: Spectacular!
‘Where the turf meets the surf’ was once sung about Del Mar Racetrack by Johnny Burke and the racetrack’s founder, Bing Crosby. Sitting just a walk away from the North Pacific Ocean’s coast and a short drive from San Diego, you’ll find plenty to do outside the key horse race."
The Grandstand is my recommended seating for you. Here, you'll have incredible views of the horses racing down the homestretch, the finishing post, or the stretch run where the atmosphere is thunderous with racing passion.
