As one of the best-known regattas in the world, every summer 300,000 spectators head to the leafy banks of Oxfordshire's Henley-on-Thames for the highlight of the British social season: the Henley Royal Regatta.
Dating back to 1839, the regatta was originally arranged as a public attraction taking place on a single day. Fast-forward almost 200 years and the event is now held over six days with 300 races of an international standard, many featuring Olympic rowers.

Set over six days, over 500 rowers from every corner of the globe will compete in hundreds of races over the 1 mile 550 yard-course. The most significant races are the Grand Challenge Cup and the Diamond Challenge Sculls, while a number of celebratory rowpasts will take place during the lunch and tea intervals on the Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The Prizegiving Ceremony takes place from the Fawley Stand within the Stewards’ Enclosure on Sunday, 3 July.
